Mobil ONE 5w20 cap

I've always put MOBIL 1 in my vehicles. My manual to my 2012 JGC says to use 5w20. I can't find a MOBIL 1 that says that. They all say 5w30. I want the cap to match the oil.

Would it hurt the vehicle to switch from 20 to 30?
I can't find a cap online that says 20.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!

A V8 takes 5W-20 engine oil, a early model (2012) V6 takes 5W-30.
It is important to fill with the correct oil as these engines have sophisticated valve timing that works best with the right oil.
Putting a different oil cap on isn't going to change the engine. Shell an some others make good synthetic 5W-20 oil.

They do make it, they have it at my local Autozone

https://www.autozone.com/motor-oil-a...art/785106_0_0

And you can get it on Amazon.

Technically Mobil 1 does not have the Chrysler approval, probably because they don't want to pay for the testing and certification. In my experience, Mobile 1 is one of the best oils you can buy so I wouldn't have any issues using it. Castrol Edge full synthetic also performs very well.

I am not 100% what the differences are between the regular and high milage versions, Castrol claims it has some additives to help rejuvenate rubber seals, it is what I use and it works fine and is in great condition even after 8,000 mile oil changes.

@ColdCase

do all V6s use 5W-30, I thought the 2014> PUG engines also switched to 5W-20 to improve cold-start lubrication of the revised rocker design?

Also Walmart

To the OP: In the old days it wasn't all that critical, but engines are much more specific in oil requirements now. Other than needing to add a quart in a hurry, I'd look for the recommended grade.

I always forget about Walmart because they don't have a store near where I live, I expect their prices would be better than Autozone. If you have Amazon Prime it's the cheapest option I have found but I still buy at a slightly higher price from my local auto parts stores because I want them to stay in business. On-Line stores are great but if you need something right now to finish a job, they are not so good.

I have been using Pennsoil Platinum 5w20 for my V8 and I buy it at either Walmart or Autozone or everywhere.

Its especially important if you have the V8 to use 5W-20 for proper operation of the MDS feature.

I was actually talking about the oil fill cap. One that says "Mobil 1" on it abut say 5w20 instead of 5w30. I can't find one anywhere.

Get one of those decal places to make you one if they havematerial that can withstand the heat.

Alternatively, write in permanent marker
