Hmmm, only one that's been done that I know of was done in Dubai, and was supposedly a major pain in the arse. I'd be really interested in seeing what you come up with!
How did you manage to get your hands on an SLR's engine!?!

if you got SLR engine then use it on another car , do not waste your SLK. you can use SLR engine on r129 SL series. but i am not sure you can find a good mechanic. If i were you i sell the SLR engine,SLK and buy a new car.

i can do it, but its going to take a quite sometime and cost alot of money- which obviously isnt a problem if you've already got the motor. Going to need a 5spd transmission and numorous other things.

Can't imagine attempting that swap. That's like putting an F-18 engine in a piper cub! It'll cost a bazillion $ and sadly, when you're through (assuming it actually works) you'll probably have a poor handling pig that's WAY too heavy in the front end, pushes through corners miserably, is so light in the rear it can't ever hook up or use more than about 1/4 of the available horsepower- and isn't worth 1/4 of the total investment.
I agree with others: sell both and buy something cool, or at least put the big engine and big bucks into something more "worthy" than a lowly SLK.
Don't misunderstand- I LOVE my R171, but I wouldn't consider investing $100,000 worth of engine and labor in it on a bet.

It's not that different, the SLR engine is in the same family and is actually pretty similar. The hard part is the programming.
There are easier and cheaper ways to get that kind of power (Kleeman, Brabus, RennTech)...

Agreed on the "easier / cheaper ways to get that power". Since the SLR used a completely unique ECU, not sure how you'd do the programming.

ya dimension wise its nearly identical. Block and transmission housing are the same. Its possible, but it'll cost alot. Since you'd have to buy all the slr control units so it communicate properly. And a lot of plumbing for the dry sump and intercoolers. It can definately be done. Logical, no not really. any one ever notice how a g55 and slr almost sound the same since the exhaust is split one bank on each side?
